Life is Worth Living

He stood there
At the end of the cliff.
Wondered if his life
Was worth living or not.
No, it isn’t,
He decided.
Took a deep breath.
Took a step forward.
Only to have his mind
Fill with memories –
“Tears rolling down his mother’s face
When he fell at the age of three.
His father’s proud face
When he took his team to victory.
The laughter on his friends’ face
At a joke he said long back.
The smile on his girl’s face
At his compliment…. “
The scenes fought to find
A place in his mind.
The more he stood there,
The more came up.
He had touched
People’s hearts.
Only he hadn’t known it till now.
He took a step back
To make many more memories
In his people’s hearts.

  1. This was beautiful and I hope that it helps those who have contemplated this exact question! Memories are what you make them and there are so bad ones and yes sometimes we have to fight through the bad ones to find good ones but those are the ones that make life worthwhile. I love this poem! 🙂
